Mammography FAQs

How long does a mammogram take?

Your visit may take up to one hour, including check-in, registration, your mammogram, and any additional imaging that may be recommended. While many appointments are completed more quickly, we encourage patients to allow up to an hour for their visit to ensure a comfortable, unhurried experience.

Some women experience mild discomfort during the brief compression of the breast. The compression lasts only a few seconds and is necessary to obtain the clearest, most accurate images for interpretation.

On the day of your appointment, please do not wear deodorant, powder, lotion, perfume, or creams on your breasts or underarms. Wear a comfortable two-piece outfit and bring your photo ID, insurance card, and any previous mammogram records if they were performed at another facility.
